Exhaust

While driving I notice an exhaust smell in my 1970 Chevelle Malibu. The floor boards aren't rusted, anyone know what the problem could possibly be?

If the exhaust system terminates under the vehicle and not past the bodywork at least a few inches, exhaust smells can infiltrate the cabin through even the smallest cracks and crevices. Even a loose clamp can be enough.

Many times the smell can come in from the firewall, so be sure there are no header/manifold/exhaust pipe leaks under the hood and the firewall is sealed well.
