exhaust cut-out??

i am looking for an exhaust cut-out to fit my 2 1/2" flowmaster exhaust system. the thing is, i want to have the ability to open the cut-outs from inside the car without having to get out of the car. i have seen those iron ones with pull wires to open them, but it says they only fit 2 1/4" pipe. is there any that will fit 2 1/2" pipe? maybe you can make the "pull wire" cut-out larger. i have searched everywhere for bigger ones and have found none that can be opened from in the car. i found the electric ones but they are mucho dinero.
thanks,
mike

Hey Mike,

The problem with the wire ones is they'll always leak a little, their manufactured quality is VERY poor, and sometimes they get stuck halfway and you have to go under the car for a few minutes fixing em.

They make it sound easy but the cables actually aren't that long. And being that you have to pull them from the front for them to open and you'll probably want to route it back as far under your dash as you can, you may have to add more cable attached to the hood opener cable that comes with it. Then it really gets iffy.

The electric ones are more mucho dinero like you said, but the leak problems seem much more manageable from what I've heard with a little rtv. And I expect they'll last somewhat longer.

Sorry to sound like a bummer, its just I have a buddy who used the cable activated ones and I saw that for the time and energy and frustration, he would have been better off with the electrics.

All that aside, cutouts that can be opened from inside the car are so cool they are worth the trouble!

yeah, my friend has the pull ones in his camaro and he hasn't really had any problems. the set up for them is sorta odd, he used a spring and something. i dont mind the leaking either because it makes his car sound kinda cool. but yeah, like i said, it says they only fit 2 1/4" pipe but i have 2 1/2" pipe, so i need some that are bigger.
thanks,
mike

If they leak they won't pass state inspection.

I just put some on my friends truck. I made my own out of 2 1/2 treaded pipe. works great but you have to get out to open them. So he just leaves them off. It sounds awsome and he just drops it into neutral when he sees a cop. He hasn't got caught yet. But he passed emmisions but his don't leak.

Its mandatory that there are no leaks in your exhaust system, with the cut outs in I could almost guarantee that the mechanic who is inspecting your car will take a rag and hold it over you tail pipe to see if exhaust will leak past the cut out.
