Exhaust drone

Awhile back I bought new factory side exhaust for my Corvette and took the old side pipe chambered mufflers that were on it and put UNDER my pickup with the turn downs ending just ahead of the rearend. I recently put a new bed floor in the bed and the drone got worst inside the cab. If I use tail pipes out the side in front of the rear wheels or out the back to the bumper will this reduce the drone inside the cab ?

I am not sure if I can remember but my brother with his roadrunner had a horrible droan and his exhaust exited the back of the car. He found an article that said putting a weight on the mufflers will stop it and it worked, if interested I can find out exactly what he did. Another thought an old time drag racer once told me be careful with exhaust exiting in front of the rear tires if the engine blows and oil dumps out of the exhaust it will get you sideways in a hurry.

pipes will help drastically, if your muffler is oval you can rotate it vertical and that helps a lot with drone also.

You probably know better than to do this but don't point your pipes towards the road surface or the floor of the vehicle. A balance pipe; over axle pipes or a single chamber/ short glasspack 'resonator' will kill some drone

Stop the Drone

From an older Thread >> http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102075: Helmholtz Chambers added to existing exhaust.
