exhaust manifold
on my sbc passengerside ramshorn exhaust manifold, there seems to be some kind of valve W/a spring(similar to intake choke)that seems as though it attatches to a butterfly inside? it doesnt seem to move at all even when it gets hot.
any ideas on what it does?

Choke heat riser, forces exhaust gasses through the intake manifold during cold starts. It should open, replace or remove if it doesn't.
I would ditch it.
