Exhaust Pipe Expander

Anyone use one before, Do they actually expand pipe enough to slip over another or just push out clamp marks?

Exhaust tools

The expander just rounds out an existing pipe..If you need to make the connections then you will need what is called an exhaust pipe Swage which does expand the pipe to allow a slip fit..Different terminolgy..different tool...

The cheap ones just push out marks. The expensive ones, some are large fine thread, some are hydraulic assist. Will move some metal...

Doc here, :pimp:

I have one, on the few times I have used it, It only works well if you REALLY heat the pipe while Flaring it...

Otherwise it seems the task is too formidable for a "cold" Stainless steel pipe..as said.."It just leaves marks".

Thanks everyone. I found a exhaust shop to "swag" the ends of the tubes I need for a ten spot. I'm replacing the exhaust with a headers and mandrel bend pipes bought from Summit Racing for my truck. Of course that means I gotta change engine too. Seems the exhaust is a little to big now. :D
