exhaust question
Is there any draw backs to running dual straight pipe exhaust from a stock ford small block? Any other alt? Besides mufflers for back pressure?

No .

You could run an x pipe to mellow it out a little if you would want to.

I'm thinking ill save the x pipe, for after I get my first noise pollution ticket. I'm kind of into waking up the nieghbors, rooster style.

I have a 59 edsel, pretty much on kustom classics, the police are almost always jazzed out on your ride, so they really won't say nothing. Unless your up to no good .

Well guess what Mr. Wolf, I'm a retired cop and I wouldn't be all that "jazzed" about you knowingly running around the neighborhoods with straight pipes. Nor would most cops or California Highway Patrol officers....but it's your driving record and wallet.

if you run with str8 pipes, your going to be much louder than a Harley with Drag pipes
I bet that if you piss your neighbors off enough, they can complain to your township/ neighborhood govt, and if they do it enough, you could get kicked out of the town.. not only that but if you cause too many complaints with your car, California will impound it. |

Well 327nut I'm not gonna get down on you for your former profession, I have respect for all officers of the law. I just know that policemen have a lot better things to do than to cite me for a minor fix it ticket. The reason I asked this question is because when was a lot younger and dumber. I always used to cut my exhuast about two feet or 3 feet from the manifold,so the noise would cut out at my seat. I thought I was cool, but now when I see youngsters doing, I mean like teenagers, I'm 26, but its like I think I can do better then that. But I still what a raw sound, I guess what I don't want is that 4 foot exaust sound, if I don't like the way that the straight pipe all the way to the back sounds, ill experiment, once I was told a good combo was to leave one straight pipe and use a glasspack on the other side.
