Exhaust Recommendation

I had Flowmaster exhaust installed in my 1963 Chevy truck and I am finding it is a little too loud for my liking.

The engine is a 383 with 400hp+, if that is pertinent.

Any suggestions out these for an exhaust system which will be "quieter" and will not significantly impact performance?

Thanks

I recommend Dynomax turbo mufflers. Nice, deep tone at low rpm with quietness and they sound off nicely at WOT.

Did they run a balance tube or X pipe when they installed it? where are the mufflers located? If they are under the cab they will resonate a lot,I had that problem with a '65 C10.A quality insulation will make a major difference too.

The interior sound resonance caused by a classic Flowmaster muffler gets old after a while.

Change to a "tri flow" style turbo muffler design . 2.5" pipes. Full tail pipes exiting at the rear bumper. A crossover pipe/balance pipe that connects the two exhaust banks of a V8 helps too.

Do a google search for Helmholtz filter, helmholtz resonator as it refers to exhaust system sound resonance supression.
