I don't think the tips will make much difference in the sound regardless of which you choose. The muffler is the 800# gorilla in exhaust note. Choose whichever tip looks best. If really quiet is your goal, choose a stock type muffler and install a resonator (fancy name for a small secondary muffler) just before the exhaust tip and you won't hear your motor!

Thanks again Willy's as usual you've squared me away, so as of now I know what I am going to do, thanks again, Dana
Whoops, forgot to ask, what is the shortest (smallest) resonator that I can purchase that still will give me my quietest sound? Part No. if possible, thanks again, Dana Last edited by 39chevy; 01-15-2005 at 07:52 AM. |

I haven't a clue but when I want to know something like that I toodle off down to Southern Auto Debbie, my parts guru and she always comes up with what I need. My second recommendation to fledgling hot rodders, right after "Get intimately familiar with your local Pick-A-Part", is "Get yourself a good parts man". You will likely only find one at a local parts store in your neighborhood, not at an Auto Zone or Pep Boys.
Here in Bakersfield we have a local chain called Southern Auto and Debbie is one of their managers and she knows car parts better than anyone I have ever met. And she is a hot rodder - drives a rodded Model A. If her store doesn't carry the part I need, she tells me where in town to find it, regardless what store it is. |
