exhaust turn downs

i was thinking about turning exhaust down in front of rear-end.what do you guys think? good or bad

I did that on my '02 F-250 Powerstroke years ago, the turn down is abaout 10" away from the tire....didn't hurt a thing. What kind of car do you have?

68NovaSS 08-10-2012 11:38 PM

I did that on my prostreet car, and wasn't very popular at a restaurant cruise in a dusty parking lot with the club guys with their just detailed rides!:pain:

Turn them out to the side some.

Get some or make some tail pipes.

I agree. If you're 'gonna drive it more than a few miles at a time you'll sure get tired of it fast.

If loud and stinky is your thing then it's all good.

I agree! It gets old in a real hurry. The fumes are really bad....

geezer69 08-11-2012 01:28 PM

do yourself a favor and run em out the back.ive done just what your talkin about. like everbody said , it sux in many ways. hahaha

ROCKETWAGON 08-12-2012 10:51 AM

thanks. how about in front of rear tire? have any of you tried that

poncho62 08-12-2012 11:29 AM

Here, and other places too I imagine, it is illegal for your exhaust not to clear the outside edge of the body, for the fumes reason. If it clears the body in front of the wheel, it should get the fumes away from the body.

I didnt know your name was Gomer, or is one of our members being needlessly sarcastic????

ROCKETWAGON 08-12-2012 11:54 AM

HAHA FUNNY GUY...:evil:i have it out the back now, its loud behind but cant hear it in the car. i would like to hear it a bit more inside. the reason i asked about out the side is because i heard it will mess up rear wheels.

prostreet6t9 08-18-2012 09:05 PM

X2 on what 68nova ss say's. I do the same thing with my prostreet car. Just turn them out to the side some and you will be fine.

eloc431962 08-19-2012 06:55 AM

X3 with 68NovaSS and Prostreet6t9 on this or you can do it like mine and run them to the rearend and no turndowns just straight out the mufflers. JMO. mine has been like this for many years don't bother me a bit.:D but to each his own i recon.

Run it out from under the car. The fumes get annoying and it resonates inside which can get annoying. Also it can cause rust because pf the heat buildup. You could go in front of the rear tires put i'd point it straight out to the sides, not angled at the tires since that could get the tires pretty hot idling at a light or something. Out the back is the best option though and looks the best.

mmadden55 08-19-2012 01:50 PM

Out the side in front of the rear tire is fine, I ran them that way on my Plymouth for years

allgaragework 08-19-2012 02:00 PM

You do the pipes how ever you like, If it dont work for you just move them! I did all the differant options befor but now I am getting older it goes all the way to the back for me!!
