hey guys i got a 350 bored.40 over in my caprice going to put headers but want dual exhuast but dont know what to get? i was leaning torwed the old school 40 series flowmasters but i want something louder when im on the gas and at idle want it to sound good with this comp cam im going to install. any help peoples would be cool

I have the original 40's on my camaro, ive got a 400 horse 327 in it, comp mag cam 244 dur .501 lift, sounds really good at idle, and u can definatly hear it a few blocks down when u get on it.

But if u like loudness which i do, install a few electric cutouts so u can open the headers up, , the electric cutouts can cost asmuch as a good muffler system so, if ur willing to spend it go for it.

Or just go with what someone else posted and get the glasspacks.

I have the 40 series on the Vette in the Avatar, It sounds awesome everywhere EXCEPT 1500 to 1700 RPM..

There it vibrates the windows in the car...and sets up sympathetic Vibrations throughout the floor pan, Vibrates the guy's kitchen Window next door on Cold morning / high Idle warmups..and will set off the nearest "Ricer" alarm while cruising through a parking lot (typically 1500 rpm's) or down the main drag at 25 mph..all the parked car alarms go off...

Either way...your not going to cruise anywhere "Stealth"

docs right about that, i get the vibration bad in those same rpm ranges (i like it tho lol), although i havnt set off any alarms yet, ill have to drive through a busy parking lot sometime to try that one out lol.

i love letting off the throttle when im coming up to a car i know has an alarm and just mashing it down when i pass by neighbors love me

I've come to find that the Flowmasters have that raspy tone. The Magnaflows have a deep rumble, plus they roar when you hammer it. They just scream power

Isn't that the point of loud exhuast? Sometimes between my classes at my university, Ill cruise around campus in my truck just to set off car alarms with dual flowmaster 3"40s headers and a big cam. I bust out laughing everytime!! College tuition well spent!!!

there isn't abetter sounding muffler than super trapps.plus they are tuneable and rebuildable.you can make them as loud or quiet as you like.they are not cheap.i had one on a dirt bike when they first came out and i saw a 455 trans am just restored at jeg's one day and was talking to the .he started it so a buddy could here it.talk about old school sound.
