experimenting w/ air cond. in '55 chevy belair

Howdy, I have a family member who has been restoring a '55 Chevy belair. he has been experimenting with air conditioning. An under dash unit from a 92 caprice has been installed in the trunk and the engine components are from an '85 silverado. The A/c works great, but only for a few minutes, than it will quite chilling. Have yet to find a remedy for this problem - any suggestions?

Tom

I'm assuming the compressor kicks out every few minutes? Put some gauges on it.
