Post fabricating a-arms?

Has anyone built their own a-arms? I'm working on an `80's chev p/u, and many parts ended up fairly thim after sandblasting. Parts in my area are rarely rust free, and new parts are too costly. I'd like to fab my own stainless tubular arms, but need to know where to find ball joints to suit. I'd like the same clean look that Heidt's Hot Rod Shop uses. Does anyone know if these parts are commonly available? Thanks in advance.

I used to make my own from tubing, use Vega Monza press in ball joints, this works great for a light car but i don't know about a truck! maybe use press in 78 chevy lowers and a compatible upper.

I made my own from tubing and used 71 - 80 Camaro spindles and ball joints. top are bolt in and the bottom I cut the ball joint area out of the stock a arms and welded the tubes to them then had the stock ball joints pressed in. Works for me....... GlennK

Cool, thanks for the replies...I'm going to copy the overall dimensions of the existing arms, and recreate them in tubing. I'm hoping to get a really clean look, the press in joints would look better for sure.

I am in the process of building some tubular A-arms for my 49 Ford project and have found that speedway Motors has almost every component that a guy needs. The best thing is they sell sleeves for the ball joints to press into, or screw into, depending on which ball joint you want to use.
