fabricating intake

hey guys,

i have a 2001 s-10 2.2. i was wondering if anybody had any ideas on making my own custom short ram or cold air intake. what i can use, what ill need to know or remember. we recently had about 700 dollars worth of repairs done for various computer and electrical issues(ill admit im no efi mechanic) and have a few hundred more for tires and brakes and what not. the one i have has a long crack running completely thru the airbox where it goes into the plenum.

any help will be much appreciated. thanks

Airaid makes systems for about 75 bucks. This includes re-usable filter.
