Fairmont460/C6; tranny/8.8 questions

Hello out there, I'm planning on putting on Edelbrock Alum. heads with 9.5 compr. and a good-sized cam for my 1977 460 eng. and I'm wondering what's the maximum gross/flywheel hp and tq you can have before you need to have a safety shield, upgraded flexplate, and things like c-clip eliminators and Moser axle shafts, etc. Thank-you

what are you doing with the car? Drag strip , street only? If you are racing, a safety shield is a good idea at any HP

Moser axles if you are running drag slicks may be needed. Again it goes back to the power you have and it does not sound like much at this point

I will be taking the car to amateur night at the drags only 2 or 3 times a year, so it's mostly a street/hwy car. Right now, it has only 229hp at the wheels at 4,400rpm and 332tq at 3,200rpm. Of course, the C6 sucks alot of power. The local Ford racing/engine builder says he can give me a total of 450-500 gross hp for $4,000.00 with my stock iron heads, so I think I'll go without the alum heads. I have headers and a Edelbrock 750/Performer Intake, alum. rad/dual elect. fans and Mallory ignition/coil. If I don't use slicks, then I don't need to upgrade to Moser? Also, I'm thinking if I went to a 2.93 or 3 even ratio, I would spin the tires less, correct?
The axle is a 3.27 out of an '88 LX 5.0, don't know what inches the spline is.
