Fan pulley and radiator clearance?

Thought I'de post this and maybe save a trip to the wrecking yard. I have exactly 2" between the fan pulley and radiator. Will I need to go with an electric fan or will a mechanical fan clear? Thanks in advance.

You can get 1/2 inch from the radiator safely. The next question is,,,, will the back of the fan blades clear the accessories?

I'm swinging one that clears the AC clutch by 1/4 inch.

Fan clutches need 3 1/2 minimum room ....

Are you saying, I only need 1/2" clearance between the fan pulley face and the radiator? That gives me a whole 1 1/2" clearance (to play with). Sweet

I think he's saying .5 inches total. If you have two inches from the fan pulley face you should still be okay once the fan is on, but it depends on the fan. Measure the width of the fan and plan accordingly.

You can put a plain fan right on the pulley face OR use a spacer to move it forward for rear clearance..... you have about 1" maximum spacer you can go forward. (got to allow for the fan thickness and the bolt heads) Never closer than 1/2 " to the radiator= watch those blade tips at the bottom.

Depending what type fan you have it might hit the accessories and also be too close to the radiator.
