Post Fan Shroud Size

I am making a metal fan shroud for an aluminum radiator. Does the shroud have to be 360 degrees to be effective?? What is best material to use??

yes a shroud has to direct all the available air through the radiator, thats how the japs cool their engines with a radiator the size of a heater core. as for material use whatever you can work with that will hold up to the heat. i try to cruise the bone yards and get factory composit ones that i can modify, and make look good, but steel or aluminum.or certain plastics all make good pieces.
