Plus many good name options for the hybrid such as:
El Carlo
Monino
Monte Camino
Camino Monte
El Monino
Carlomino
El Carlmino
Carlmino
Monte Carmino
El Carmino
If GM had put that out image the fun they would`ve had with the name.
I've had a couple, but Tech is right, as always. A 59 409/4 speed would be the ultimate.
currently a 65 383/4 speed in my garage, formerly had a 72 350/stick 20 years ago
My dad had an 83 ss when i was a kid. I now own (my second car) an 86, and just put in a 1972, 350. My first engine build and project car. Love it to death and I'm learning something new everyday from it it seems..at a price$$$$ I'm partial to the double headlight style malibu nose myself. They're getting hard to find in new England. The frames rot out too fast. Still drive it year round snow and all.
Dad had a 65 but it got totalled and I got a broke jaw out of the deal when I was 5. I love the front ends. His had a 283 that he put in and a 3 speed manual foor shift conversion. Really liked that car.
I love the 64 model. Way cool. I seem to be a 64 model year kinda guy I guess. At least as far as GM goes.
My oldest brother had about 5 of them at one time. My favorite was the vette yellow 64 with the 327 4 speed in it.
I completely forgot until I read this thread; my Dad had a '59 when I was like two. It was pea green, I remember when he brought it home I climbed all throught it and cut my foot on a piece of a broken bottle behind the seat (hillbilly/ farm kids never wore shoes) . I don't know what happened to that car, and I wouldn't have known what it had under the hood.
I own a 79 SS limited edition. 350 small block, Muncie 4 speed transmission and 373 gears. I love this car but I think the 68 to 72 are one of the best looking. I like the 70 SS 396. But also a the 59 is a beautiful classic.
Your '66 is the coolest one ever. I had a brand new '66 w/396 4 speed and loved it...still miss that car! If you ever decide to part with yours, I "might" be interested.
For a classic I'd have to say 59 but for a nice muscle car 70 with the cowl induction hood ...its funny I ran into this thread I just made an offer on a 70 elc
I agree with you ,I much prefer the 71-72 single headlight for my taste ,but I know the 70 will bring more money and has a better horsepower (Rating ) then 71-72 ,but that don't mean much to me .because few are left stock anyway.
I just cant see a 73 -78 without thinking ,about My Name is Earl. Red with a blue door
. Had a black '75 El Camino... wimpy 350 2bbl. TH350... might go for a '64 Elky like my buddy had... add dual quad SBC 400 and 6-speed... or maybe '64 Buick Special with Camino bed...
I've always loved '67 Chevelles, and El Caminos. The SS396 versions with the high output 375HP and 4 speed are one of my favorite combos in either El Camino or Chevelle. I like the narrower B pillar on the El Camino '64-'67 El Camino, but I like the '67 bed better than the earlier '64-'65 or later '69-forward.
Plus I see so many '69-'72 El Caminos around my area, but rarely any '67's.
