Question Federal-Mogul #8542 Coil Spring Rate

Can any of you guys look up the spring rate for a set of Federal-Mogul coil springs (FM No. 8542). I bought them from Heidts and according to their catalogue the rate is supposed to be 275 lbs/in (their recommendation). They sure seem stiff to me. I've got them in a '33 Ford street rod chassis with a Chevy 350 and a 700-R4 installed. I don't have a lot of weight left - the body which weighs around 500 lbs (most of that will be on the rear axle), radiator, fenders, alternator, and stuff. But I can't even get any spring flex when I stand on the shock tower and jump up and down. What's up? I called up the FM web site but they don't post any details.
