Fender Alignment

I am having trouble with the passenger side fender alignment on this 81 firebird Im working on. All of the doors and other fender and hood all line up good, but this passenger side fender is aligned good at the bottom all the way up to the body line, then it sticks out a good 1/4 inch. I loosed all the fender bolts and tried to move it over but the closest I can get is about 1/8th inch. Why cant I adjust the top of this fender in any more? Is it warped you think?

firechicken383,

If it is a different fender than the one that came from the factory then the tabs that you fasten the fenders to the body could be a little different(longer". Can you file the hole slotted so you can get it to move in that little bit?

scholman, Its the original fender. Friends dad owned it until I bought it. I thought about that on the tabs but Im wondering what is causing this. Something is wrong somewhere.

Someone could have jacked the car up to change the front tire on that side and pushed it up that way... I did that once to one of my cars when I was 18.... I thought the square tubing under the car was part of the sub frame and jacked it up to change a flat... Fender never fit right after that, but i never messed with it either...

Could have been wrecked previously?

Check for damage under the front door and fender area

Well I noticed that someone has put a jack under it and tweaked a bit of the lower fender. MAybe that warped the whole fender.

Here

This might help. The fender section is about half way down.
