Several methods come to mind, perhaps the cheapest and easiest is to make the box from particle board or dense foam the shape and size you desire. Round it off and sand as desired. Cover it completely with packaging tape the smooth shiny type, make sure you totally cover it, and apply several layers. The resin will not stick to the packaging tape nd will allow you to pull the fiberglass box off the particle board box when the resin has cured. Cover it with fiberglass mat soaked in catalyzed resin. It will require several applications, allow to cure between each. You will have to rough up the underlying coat before application of another coat. It will probably take about a gallon of resin, depending on how big the box is. Resin is cheaper by the gallon.

Once you have removed it from the particle board box check it and make sure it's strong enough to support itself. Sand it fairly smooth and then use body filler to fill any imperfections.

Like vince says works
Here is another suggestion, if you leave the particle board in the laminate it gets really stiff and sounds better. Don't tape it off if you want it to become part of your finished box.

WOW puttster, Those are some really in depth informative threads you posted.

If someone can't build a professional looking sub box in anything with all of that I would be surprised.

Good stuff !
I got to read ALL of it when I gets the chance.

later,
Mikey

How to fiberglass tutorial

here's maybe the best tutorial out there.

http://web.njit.edu/~cas1383/proj/main/

My first project is a console for my old car. I have learned:
You need to figure out a system for mixing resin. containers & measurements. Do not just grab a pan and squirt in the hardner each time.
Once the resin starts to jell do not try to spread it. It is not like a hunk of jelly, it won't spread out at all.
The cloth is easier to work with than the mat. Use the mat later, as reinforcement.
If the resin gets on you do not use the laquer thinner to rinse it off. I do not know what that stuff is supposed to be used for but if it touches you you will burn!
