Fiberglass bondo or regular?

n my 86 Fiero there are some small places right next to the sunroof on the drivers side that need some bondo. The car is fiberglass, but i was reading when using a fiberglass repair kit, you need to cut out like 2 inchs bigger than the spot you are going to repair. Well in this case the spot is so close to the sunroof on one side i cant. Should i just us regular bondo? or WhAT, Thanks...ill try to get pics.

I'm sure others here know better than me in this. But what I do is grind or cut away any old fiberglass that seems to be delaminating or falling apart. This way your working with good quality material and have a less chance of the old stuff breaking apart later. Fiberglass is like splitends in your hair, you have to cut the ends off to keep it from getting worse later.

As for the fact your working real close to the sunroof. I would find a replacement seal and take the sunroof out. That way you know your getting all the bad stuff out and it makes the paint job neater in the end.

Make sure you bevel the area your working so you get as good of a connection between the new and old fiberglass as possible.

If anyone has better instructions don't be afraid of hurting my fealings and please jump right in.

I agree with the previous post. Remove the sunroof. There is a chance that the 'glass is starting to come apart at the sunroof, since that is an area that flexes. It will show up later.
