Fiberglass fenders and running boards?
I have a 1948 Studebaker M-5 (1/2 ton truck). The problem most people come into when taking everything apart is the amount of rust created from metal to metal mounting of parts. I have been thinking about it for a few days and came up with a solution to my problem, I think.
The old parts aren't reuseable, the running boards are there but have more holes then i want to count, and the fenders are not in very good shape (dented badly). Has anyone had any experience installing fiberglass fenders or running boards? What are the pros and cons of this type of setup? Also does anyone have any experience with the company "Class Glass & Performance, Inc."? Thanks for any opinions or help, Eric |

First of all, thank you for your service, I salute you. I had a conversion van that I added a fiberglass front scoop and fender flares to and had them blended into the body. It worked great and looked terrific, but you have to be super careful not to bump into anything or all that work goes in the toilet.

Thanks for the support!!
The fenders wouldn't need blended or anything. They are external fenders (not sure if that makes sense, if not there are pics in my project journal). Thanks for the help though. Eric |

Whether they're blended in to the rest of the body or not, be very careful not to bump into anything. I would hope anyone selling fiberglass fenders would have a way to make them as sturdy as possible, and my advice as to the running boards would be to get as much support under them as you can.
