fiberglass hood

i have a new vfn fiberglass hood. my plan was to wet sand with 400 and use master pro 2k urethane primer. then fill scratches with a sandable lacquer primer and then DuPont chroma base and clear. after wet sanding i found 1inch by 3 inch area that has glue on it.from the shipping tape. i scraped as much as i could with a razor blade. is there anything i can wipe this off with?

Dish washing soap in a bucket of hot water.Wash the area real good with a sponge. Then check with your hand/fingers to see if all the glue is gone.
Rinse with clean water. Then buff it off with some soft rags. this works pretty good or has for me anyway. Or i have been told that "GOO GONE" works well also but i have not tried that yet. but i have use goo gone on alot of painted things with no problems. plastic /metal and glass. JMO

Wax and grease remover will take off tape residue. You could just scuff hood with gray scotch brite, wipe it down, tack it and shoot color on it.

Enamel reducer will also safely remove it.

rubbing alcohol ?

sometimes alcohol will work. or carefully heating with a blow dryer type heat gun and wiping with a towel to get most off first. .

My wax and grease remover does not remove tape residue. I picked up some heavy duty degreaser from Lowe's for cleaning the undercarriage, it is called Crud Cutter and is non-toxic and biodegradable. It removes a lot of crap including tape residue and works well for me. I clean the area with wax and grease remover after wiping the Crud Cutter off.

ended up using dish soap and water. looks like it took it off pretty good. i let it sit in the sun all day. will shoot it tomorrow. thanks for the help.
