fiberglass nose piece

I would like to attempt to make a new fiberglass nose for a '89 IROC Camaro. Possibly styled like to latest Camaro concept. I realize this is a big project and I have no experience with fiberglass. What would be a good place to start? Is there any books, websites, etc. that would help out? I have searched here some but what I have found has been a little scattered, however the WIKI on the fan shroud was very good.

I think a more modern nose would freshen up the looks on an outdated Camaro!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick

This is typical of fiberglass work in general. It is difficult to find a definitive guide to it, you will have to find various books and website topics on the subject and pick the knowledge out that you require.

There are many threads on this site that you can search as you have discovered (check 'powerrodsmike' threads he has written many posts).

I have just about every book that there is on the subject, the ones I find most usefull are

Fiberglass Repair and Construction Handbook by Jack Wiley. and How to build Fiberglass Hot Rods, Customs and Kit Cars by Tex Smith.

There is also a video that Fiberglast offers
http://www.fibreglast.com/showproduc...ideos-118.html. 'The art of Moldless Composites' that I found useful. I would advise this technique for a project like yours.

Basically sculpt it from foam and glass it.
