Fiberglass repair questions from newbie-pics-please help

Dear body-repair gurus,

I need to repair this dent in my 1999 35th Anniversary silver GT hood and was wondering what the best strategy would be.

I have never done fiberglass repair or a paintjob, but im certain that I can do a ok/decent job with much research and advice from the experts here. What are the materials that people trust for a lasting repair and what are the steps and sequence in which I need to lay the materials into the repair? I know there is a bunch of stuff I need to do to ensure a good repair and that its not trivial. Is there a good methodical thread or article somewhere that people can link me to which describes the process in great detail?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance for your time and expert opinions!
