This can be easily done if you have acces to a MIG welder. You grind down all the paint and rust from around and/or in the holes. Then you clamp on a piece of copper to other side of hole(unseen side) You can the proceed to fill in the hole with the gun. Once done just unclamp the piece of copper. It doesnt stick becuase the two metals dont mix or adhere to each other. You can then proceed to grind flat. My uncle found this out when he had to fill in holes on his old army CJ2, full of holes from mounting stuff onto it. Hope this helps somebody.

thanks Mr.56Chevy I will keep this in mind when I am ready to start on my 49 and 51 Chevy trucks they have lots of drilled holes in the running boards from things being mounted to them.

I thought you use bondo with a rag behind it???? j/k

At my school we have a autobody class. Unfortunately we are taught to bump out the big dents and bondo EVERYTHING else. Some day my truck is going to be done. When it is perfect I want as little bondo on it as possible.

Hey 56, I chased you over here from the General area.You said that your bed had a sheet load of holes with no ryhmn or reason to them and they were not all rust. If you have that many, consider having a sheet metal shop bend you up some new bed sides. You said you are going very radiacl, so you can design the turn arounds or the top rails of the bed to be anything. You can even incorperate lights in the ends. If you take your bed totally apart, you will see that it is a simple piece of bent tin. You can make it any length, change the angle of the tailgate, anything!
