Thanx Cole. It just wasn't my day. I exploded my distributer. Parts became pissed at one another and parted ways at about 5k. When I finally found a new MSD cap, rotor and wires, I found that my number one cylinder was not pointing at the right fender. What do you think the probable cause is? Twisted oil pump shaft or twisted dist shaft?

I've sheared the cam gear roll pin before, something to look at.

What do you mean #1 not pointing at the right fender? You mean passenger side fender?

X2 this could very well be your problem and a good place to start.

When I( orginally set the ignition up I set number one to be the left tower behind the carb. After the distributer exploded I put all now cap, rotor and wires on. Didn't run. Set TDC on #1 cylinder and looked at the rotor. Now it points at the passenger side fender. It's like 45* off. So, I started there and ran my firing order around and it fired right up. The advance curve is way out of whack tho. So I ordered a brand new E Curve dist from Summit.

Update

MSD's E-curve is the sweetest dist ever. I should have been using these from the minute they were released. Lock them out, set your max advance, and that never changes. You can dial in your desired curve without ever disturbing your max advance. Recurving takes about 3 minutes and you don't have to use a timing light, or even start the engine. I am very very pleased.
