Finned aluminum valve covers
Whats the best way to paint in the valleys between the fins where they are rough, and to remove any paint thats left on the polished part?

What I do is to tape up the edge of the outer fins ... and the ends and then paint the valve covers.
Before the paint sets and dries ... I take a cloth with thinner on it and wipe the paint off the top of the fins ...

I powder coated between the fins and taped off the outsides and re-polished the edges of the fins. Worked great, You just use a DA Sander and gradually go smaller in grit until you can rebuff it.
