Firming up TCC lock up

Is there any way to firm up the TCC lockup? I have heard that removing the ball in the end of the turbine shaft will do this. Will this have any ill effects on the converter or other parts? I am running a stock 12" converter in a 4WD with a 1988 700R4.

Removing the orificed checkball inthe input shaft will make lockup more firm at the expense of the damper springs and TCC apply plate.
This is generally NOT recommended.
