I got the first parts of the 62 chev painted yesterday. Victory red and three coats of SPI Production clear with a sand with 1500 and buff.

LOOKS great...and you only cut it down to 1500? Are you using a wool pad or a foam? What kind of compound?

Used a clean wool pad with wizard rubbing compound and finished with a yellow wool mixed with a mecquires fine compound and water. Got one more door and fenders to buff monday then I can start to paint the body shell and hood.

I usually finish in 2500 and sometimes 3000 trizac with the 3M three compound, three color coded foam pad system. I find that the "polishing time" is a lot less but the sanding time is increased but, what you've ended up with lots excellent. As Mr4speed said, keep the pics coming.

Got a shot of the fenders before I took them out of the booth to wet sand. Got both doors buffed today and decided the safest place for them untill picked up was back in the booth. At lest for now. I've got two cars in the shop in peices plus some of the panels off my 64 hawk so kind of running out of room.

I can't wait to see this one together!!!

In the late sixties I bought a factory red/red '62 Biscayne 2-door post, with the dual-quad 409 horse 409! That car was one of my all-time great loves!

Jay. This one has a 454-400 in it so it should pull it. I'am just doing the body and paint work but will for sure post a picture when the owner gets it put back in one peice.

That oughta give it plenty of "grunt"! :-)
