My second oldest use to have an 84 Fiero last summer. Too many gremlins in it. constantly fixing it. It was very fun to drive though.

Yes, The 84's(first year of production) had alot of gremlin's. Alot of the 84's were built with bad pushrod's. The rod's would break and shoot through the engie block and cause a fire. That's how they got such a bad rep and ended up being one of the reason they were killed after only 4 year's of production....
Mine has a 2.8L v/6 right now, but I am going either the 4.9L Caddy engine(300# of tourque) or the high revvin'(8500rpm) 3.4LDOHC engine...

santana is in the house Oh wait a minute that is just a song he does welcome to the board.
Fiero's are fun to drive but that is about the only thing fun about them.A real pain to fix.
I have only seen one that the guy put the caddy engine in and it was a blast to drive fast as anything. I can not remember if it was an 86 or 87 but he had alot of money in it.
have fun with your project.

Chuck;

Not tryin to be an info geek, but, I do believe Pontiac's official stand was "due to recurring engine fires" and the stigma that arose from it.

Hi Steve, welcome aboard. Your T-Bird should make a nice project. All members here are aloud to post any pictures they want in a hotrodders photo album. You can see the link to the 'Photo Album' section at the top of the forum homepage along with all the other links (Hot Rod Search, Free Newsletter, Knowledge Base, etc.). You can start a photo album with your screen name and password from the bullitin board. Then you just have to upload pictures from your computer into your album. After you get an album you can post pictures from that album in board posts or just add links in posts to your album. Hope this helps. If you want any help getting pictures posted send me a PM and I will try and help. Good luck, Don.
