First time poster...just bought my first classic. What do you think?

Hey guys, this is my first time to the site and first time posting. I'm 21 years old and I just bought my first classic! Its a 1954 Chevrolet 3100 pick-up! I'm not crazy about the color, but its growing on me. The truck has lived in California for the past 50 years, and recently came to Georgia. I'm the 3rd owner since '54.
The people I bought it from put a new motor in 3 years ago but got in a bad motorcycle accident and have not put more than 3 miles on the new engine. I drove it home 38 miles last night after I bought it! It has the 350 in it, with a 1974 Camaro rear end. No power steering or brakes, but it is not hard at all to drive, and the brakes are more than fine. There are a few cosmetic issues I need to fix, like the drivers rear fender. I want to get a chrome grill for it also.

Brand new to hotrodding and I'm glad I found this site. What do you all would think would look good on my truck? Thanks!!

(In the pictures, the flash has made it appear a little more "pink" than it actually looks in the sunlight)

Welcome aboard! What part of GA are you from? Sounds like you have a great truck to put your personal touches on.

your pics may be too large. Check the size that your camera is set at and choose a smaller size.

nice..
if you get a chance, talk to the p/o and see if the 350 they installed has a flat tappet cam or a roller.. if flat tappet or they don't know. make sure you use an oil with enough zinc init.. and or the zinc additive. lucas oil makes one..
or you'll flatten a lobe on the cam..
oh and welcome, I'm new here too..

leave it all one color, and have fun with it.. maybe putting the lyrics to a van halen song on the spare tire cover
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RPx6A3gKiA
Well,way down yonder in louisville,
Lived a cat named big bad bill,
I wants to tell ya,
Ah the cat was rough and tough and would strutt his stuff
Had the whole town scared to death,
When he walked by they all held their breath,
He's a fighting man, sure enough
And then bill got himself a wife,
Now he leads a different life...
Big bad bill is sweet william now,
Married life done changed him somehow,
He's the man the town used to fear,
Now they all call him sweet pappa willie dear,
Stronger than samson I declare,
Til the brown skinned woman,
Bobbed his hair
Big bad bill don't fight any more,( no he don't )
Doing the dishes, mopping up that floor ( yes he is )
Well he used to go out drinking,
Looking for a fight,
Now he gotta see that woman, everynight,
Big bad bill is sweet william now
Ah play it boys.
I likes that jazz.
Big bad bill don't fight any more,( no he don't )
Doing the dishes, mopping up that floor ( yes he is )
Well he used to go out drinking,
Looking for a fight,
Now he gotta see that woman, everynight,
Big bad bill is sweet william now ( doing the dishes )
Big bad bill is sweet william now ( mop up dat floor )
Big bad bill is sweet william now
Cha........ yeah!
