Fish symbols

I know what the fish symbols are on peoples cars. Some say Jesus, some are plain, some say Darwin....but what does the ones that say IXOY something or other mean?

Because of the persecution to the Christian believers by the Roman rulers and pagans of the 1st century, the fish symbol was adopted by Christians to secretly identify themselves to each other much as groups today will identify themselves by what "car show" "T" shirt we wear, Nascar cap, sports jersey, NRA or Harley Davidson sticker we have in the back window of our trucks. It was a very dangerous world for a Christian to live in 2000 years ago and be open about their faith in this new "radical" God. Identity with Christ meant a one way trip to the Coliseum in Rome to meet a lion for lunch. The pagans were trying to get rid of this new religion just in the same way as Hitlers plan was to exterminate the Jews, and dominate the world with a supreme German race, during the reign of Nazism up and through WWII. (Amazing the fear of fear, and fear of the unknown will drive people to such extremes)
The letters IXOYE, simply translated, means Jesus Christ, Son of God, Lord and Saviour.

The fish represents faith while the dove represents the Holy Spirit. Both of which represent Jesus.

My kind of fish...
1970 Barracuda. 340+6 (340 6pack) 4speed 3.73s, AAR-style exhasut.

as far as a fish and religion goes, it's only a symbol, an outward sign. What is real is what's inside.

A true bit of wisdom, and I agree on the 'cuda.
I don't put anything on the back of my car, don't really care if the guy behind me has any clue to my views.
The humping fish I find a little offensive, even more so than all the others. If the darwinists want a symbol why don't they come up with their own instead of swiping the Jesus fish. Or instead of the humping fish, just say what you mean, like screw people who believe in Jesus. Ghetto, I'm not directing this at you, or trying to shoot the messanger here.

In light of the "IXOYE" meaning, I will have to say I agree.
