FIT 10 bolt 78 and 65

Hey there,
I have a 65 Malibu with 10 bolt and have a chance to pick up a 78
Malibu 10 bolt. My question is for you Chevelle guys is you know 65-67
rear ends are 54.25" back plate to back plate, then they went an 1" wider
for the 68-72. This guy says his 78 10 bolt is 51.25" wondering if the swing
arms are in same position. This is coil set-up. You know with the upper and lower swing arms.
Anyway help or knowledge would be appreciated.
Thanks

The upper control arm attach points on the center section casting are different and will not work in an early chassis without binding unless you use aftermarket upper arms with the monoball bearings in them. More importantly, the 78 will have the weak-kneed 7.5" axle that was originally designed for the Vega. Run, don't walk, away from it.

Malibu rear end 10 bolt

Hey thanks Joe.
I was just reaching for the sky on that one..I think I
knew better, but...anyway.
What I really want is the 12 bolt that came in 65-67
Chevelle/El Camino it is 54.25". Since I am or have dump
a BBC in it 12 bolt is the way to go, but finding one is near
impossible. Has to be 65-67. I know where on is for $1200 !!!!
seems high but maybe not.

Thanks again
