To fit ..or not to Fit.. that is the question!
do you guys remember that 58 Gmc stepside? that i bought a few years back??? any you old members may recall.. anyway I still have pics if ya need to refresh your memory. I bought truck lowered and i wanna put it back the way it was but i cant find a frame... I was told that a S10/S15 frame will fit the body transfers perfectly... before i start ripping this thing apart .. Can anyone confirm this"? An old fella up the road has a s10 frame that is solid but the body is rotten and told me to take it for the taking! Yard is already starting to look like a scrap heap........ dont wanna bring anything else in case it doesnt fit.......... Any info would be good

I can pretty much guarantee that it is NOT an exact fit........ It may be close, but its still going to take some welding, body mount fab etc.......
What is wrong with the way it is?......Is it lowered with a clip?....My truck has a clip, taht has been there for 15 years, no problem. Perhaps you can fix what you have. Lets see pics

Actually Poncho .. the guy that lowered this truck chopped it and did a horrible job of it..... nothing fits right but i knew that when i bought the truck He nickeled and dimed his way thru and did a cheezy job of it... not worth even trying to fix....... the frame is knackered and welded back together and not even in a safe way . the truck hasnt been on the road since i purchased it..its just been waiting in the project line.. and its now its turn..... so now imjust looking for ideas..

Hey greasewhore, gotta love saying that
I am not really a frame swapper, but can search. I don't know if you asked your question in another section as well, but might get better responces in something like the suspension section. In a search, looks like it may have been done before, but from what I can tell it looks like its better suited to the pre 55 trucks, and you would be better off with a full size frame. There would be fabrication on either. http://chevytrucks.org/tech/s10_frame_swap.htm http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=155190 Heres tech on one of the earlier models. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=8491 Maybe you could find more info on the chevytrucks.org site or stovebolt. Two links to the hamb, Centerline is gonna love me. LOL. Last edited by kenseth17; 05-04-2008 at 12:40 PM. |
