Fitting 230 6 cylinder to 4 speed crash box

Gday guys. My dad's rebuilding a '43 Chevy army quad (C8AX). It had a 216 motor/4 speed truck crash box in it but he's got a 230 that's in better condition to swap in. The 230 came complete with a 3 speed box so has a bellhousing, fly wheel etc (was from a '64 C10).

Does any one know the easiest way to fit the 230 up to the old 4 speed?

Here's a pic of the old beast (his spare parts truck)

Can you make a template of the bolt pattern of the 216 and using the template to compare the bolt pattern of the 230? Might tell the tale. I know there are guys who have installed the later motors in the earlier cars.. and the bellhousing may have a similar bolt pattern..

Sam
