AN- fitting assembly
First time I am using the an fittings. Is it correct to tape the end of the stainless hose to insert it into the hose fitting?
|
Nope. The tape is great for cutting to prevent the braid from turning into a brillo pad, but it should be removed for assembly. Pain in the *** isn't it?
|
We tightly wrap one layer of duct tape at the proper cut length. We cut the end and leave the remaining length of duct tape on the end for the fitting, We install the end and trim off any excess tape. Has worked well for us for at least 15 years.

I wrap mine a few wraps of electrical tape and then trim it off when I get it all assembled. Use those aluminum insert that you put in the vice so you don't scratch the fittings

AN fittings
Greetings! I have used strapping tape for a good 20 years, haven't had a problem leaving it on. I get the best luck using a really thin disc to cut the stainless. There is a new tool on the market for assembly, looks like it ought to make the job simple. Bill :)
