Flasher noise all the time
My Son's 2000 Poncho Grand Am turn signals and hazard lights work fine, the flasher keeps making the flasher sound even without signals or hazard lights engaged. Replaced hazard switch, still has the problem. Any thoughts? I have never had this problem with my 1971 Pontiac 455 Wagon!
I think generally those cars have the turn signal switches and stuff usually giving signals to the computer. Honestly I'd just take it to the shop.
Don't deal with the communists untill all other options fail!! I'm betting there is a component with a bad ground seeking a ground thru the flasher somehow. ( sounds good don't it?)
The new electronic stlye flashers are not just for LEDs. You can use them to break the current elctronically and they don't make the clicking noise.
Doc here, :pimp:
What you most likely have is another circuit altogether , controlled by a relay, that has somehow moved on it's base and striking metal..(making it audible)
Something like a Fuel pump relay that goes on/off in spurts to maintain fuel pressure or Some other Data reporting relay making an audible noise..
Do an audio check (stick your head up under the dash.. :pain: ) and track the noise down , use your finger tips when you get close, you'll probably find a relay on a harness end, adrift and laying on a metal panel amplifying the noise..
I agree..Don't pay for something you can provide a "First line" of defense for! In this situation (Since everything else runs Normal) they are not going to do anything different..except charge you $99.00 to $120.00 an hour to do it..It'd Be different were it a Computer malady, where a terminal would be required.
