I have a 2000 S-10 pickup 4 cyl., 5sp. Once in a while while decelerating the headlights will flash. This only happens on deceleration never during normal driving or at idle. The battery doesn't drain abnormally in fact I put a new battery in a while back and have had the problem since. Anybody? Thanks

You might try and inspect the plug on the DRL, and the pins on the edge card connector, For burned , bent corroded or Ill fitting plug. Clean Burnish the plug and connector pins CAREFULLY, and check the grounds.

If good, the DRL may be on it's way out..(they may be a BCM code for it).

As always, we assume you have already checked and cleaned power and ground connections at the battery, and device (s)..and is good.

You might want to run a ground from the alternator to the ground buss system also.

Thanks for the reply. Hate to sound stupid here but what is a DRL? Yes I have checked the connections at the battery and all were good and clean. Thanks again.

Daytime running lights--Doc---are you refering to a module or relay somwhere?

Yeah, there should be a module somewhere in the lighting system for the daylight running lamps..maybe even part of the BCM, (body control module) What he needs to do is get a Manual at the library or buy one that has locations for the modules.
