There are probably more flathead experts on the hamb site, My brother built quite a few flatheads back in the day. I think what he used to do was look for the merc bellhousing If i remember right there was a factory short belhousing to go from the engine that had the longer bell as part of the block to the trans with no bell as part of the trans case . There are more aftermarket. flathead parts available today than 50 years ago. I had a friend that used an S 10 5 speed behind his scott blower equipped 36. flathead.
