FLEX PLATE , FLYWHEEL what are the differences?

hi


may be it is a stupid question

but what are the differences between FLEX PLATE and FLYWHEEL ?

which one is used for automatic transmissions ?

what about the teeth number??? does it require to change the starter gear when changing the teeth number ???

Flexplate is used on an auto trans, flywheel on a standard. As long as they have the same number of teeth, they take the same starter. If the flexplate has a different number of teeth, the starter must have the housing that bolts it to the engine changed, but the same starter gear can be used.
