That's usually the 1st thing I "delete" from a build...

Forget it, it contributes nothing worthwhile to any street-only vehicle. Heat is the enemy of automatic transmissions, and deleting that stupid cover will help the converter shed some heat. Maybe not a lot, but some.
Also, with the bottom of the flexplate exposed, there's a slight hope of skinning the backs of those annoying cats who hide under your vehicles. |

Someone here once brought it to my attention that the shield is there to keep rocks, trash, etc from becoming lodged between the converter and housing or flexplate and block. A moot point for me since I never drive on anything but clean pavement...

Any car that came with a SBC/SmallBlockChevy Engine & 2004R Trans the cover should fit the 4.3L V6 w/2004R. 82-90 Models, G-bodies & larger B-bodies. Other TC covers fit with slight Mods as Art said above.
