Floor question

I finally got the carpet off the floor of my 37 Pontiac and got a look at the floors. There is rust but no rust through and everything feels solid. when I looked at the area where the floor meets the fire wall, I noticed what I think is old fiberglass used to patch. I cant see underneath the car, due to exhaust and other parts to be later removed, at the point in question to see if there is any damage. can someone look at the attached photos and tell me what they think? Also if it is fiber glass, should I remove it and weld in patch panels. I may answer my own question when it comes time to put the new tranny in but until then I'm trying to figure the next action to take. Also, it looks like the previous owner used a lot of glue when he installed the carpet in the floors. Much of it is still there. My thoughts were to lightly grind away. Any other suggestions?

Floor Question

Its hard too tell from the pictures what it is, but from description appears carpet glued down, suggestion, use wire brush mounted in a drill and wire brush a section to actually see what kind of metal remains? As with any project of this nature, LOTS Of WORK but must be done to do an effective Job, see your a Georgia Boy, I'm from Lawrenceville. Good Luck
