Floor shifter for a '55 cast iron Powerglide?

I have a 1946 Chevy 1/2 ton with a '55 235 w/cast iron Powerglide and I was looking at buying a Lokar floor mounted shifter but they say they will only work with the aluminum Powerglide. Is this because the cast iron shift pattern is (P N D L R)? Looking at a picture of the shifter it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to make it work but since I'm new to all of this I thought I would ask you guy's your thoughts on this before I buy one.

Yea..lokar shifters mount to the trans thru a series of mounting brackets,no provisions in a cast unit to mount to...but i'm thinkin, looking at my lokar,if you couldn't toss the trans brackets, and mount the shifter to the floor, using just the top flat bracket that the shifter is attached to...just a thought....because it looks like ANY shifter you get is gonna have to be a floor, not trans, mount installation.
