when lord fusor intro'ed their stuctural adhesive, i had a chance to test it out
we bonded some index card sized pieces of metal together, let them set till they were cured according to the instructions then tried to seperate them
the piece i was working on was put in a vise and chisled on to no real effect
then i layed it down across the 1" thick cast iron floor drains and beat it with a mini sledge hammer. the only way it became 2 pieces again was by beating the pieces till they were as thick as tinfoil
that being said, i still prefer neatly fitting the panel and butt welding them all the way around, then grinding / filling for a perfect finish
no overlap mean noplace for rust to start, and no need for welding primer (i hate that stuff too)
