Flopping hood
I am looking for ideas on attaching my hood in an attractive manner. I have a chopped '31A that uses the top, but not the sides of the original hood. It has the standard radiator support rods from the firewall and still has the tubular hinge parts in the lower edge of the hood tops. When I bought the car, the hood was kept in place with some cable ties and a bungee cord.
I thought about side/snap fasteners, but I'd like to keep the lines uncluttered. And possibly some sort of latch or pins from the support rods into the tube hinge part, but I am not really sure how to best do this so it doesn't shake loose. I would appreciate any help, pictures, sources or ideas on how others have done this part of the project. Thanks! |

Hood Attachment
5Window
I have a 32 that I run open sides on. I have posted three pictures in my gallery to give you the idea of what I have on my car. Basically there are two bolts holding a bracket with a tapped hole in it. This will line up with a bracket attached to the side of the radiator with a clearance hole. The radiator bracket sits inside (engine side) of the hood bracket. You will also notice that it is slotted for adjustment of the hood. The bolt is attached from the inside and holds the hood in place. There is one bracket each on the four corners with the ones on the body mounted similar to the radiator. The hood is rock solid and you can't see anything from the outside. Hope this helps. Tom |
