fluid capacities and posi additive questions

I have a 10 bolt with 8.5" ring gear and need to know the proper amount of posi additive, gear oil and procedure.

Most posi additive comes in either a 4 or 8 ounce container.

Most likely your 8.5 will hold the standard 4.25 pints (2-quarts) of gear lube.

Add the posi additive first and then fill to the filler plug opening with your choice or gear oil.

Warmer climates might let you run 85w140, cooler climates might like the 80w90 better.

The books I have here call more for the 80w90 gear oil.

Some people will forgo the addition of the posi additive, it is pretty much an additive to quiet the clutch chatter. Amsoil gear lube also states you need no additive with their product.

I have also heard of some people not using it and having no problems.
