You will only be wasting gas to use it with gas-less wire There are several different kinds of "duel shield" wire which is a flux cored wire that REQUIRES gas but these wires are in no way the same as "inner shield" or gas-less wire. You will not see any improvement at all with the gas on a gas-less wire and in fact you probably will not be able to see any difference in the weld at all. On a gas-less wire the flux contained in the core creates a gas shield that protects the weld from atmospheric gases and this same shield would also prevent the gas from a tank from reaching the weld thus it would have no effect on the weld.
