Flywheel/Flexplate

This may be a dumb question, but here goes....What is the difference between a flywheel and a flexplate. I've asked around, and no one can tell me. Please un-confuse me

Bout the same thing. A flywheel is used with manl. trans and a flex plate is with auto. You can do a search here to learn about both more.

Flex plate _converter goes right on it and then to the trans
Fly wheel _has the clutch and pressure plate right there then to trans.

Is there anything else you wanted to know about them? Both have theeth for starter. Fly wheel is normally thicker/heavier (if made of same material).

Flex plate has unfinished surface the fly wheel is smooth finish(towards clutch assem.)

umm dia. wise they are normally around the same.

Don't know what else I can tell ya.
