Ford 2.0 4 Litre Compression?
I have a 93 Ford Probe with a 2.0 lt that my daughter overheated. I have replaced the head gasket because I was told it was probably blown since there was verry little compression. I still get the same reading on my compression tester. Can you tell me what the compression reading should be? thanks
Run engine to operating temps, disconnect the distributor so not to have spark, open the throttle to full open and run compression test. Results should be 179 psi with a minimum of 142psi. Hope this helps.
If it overheated bad enough there is a fair chance you have a cracked head -- sometimes the crack is not so obvious that you would see it without careful inspection.
Please don't ask me how I know this......
